After completing your documentation and visit notes, you must electronically sign the visit to finalize the medical record and make it legally binding. This process ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and creates an official record of the patient encounter.

When to Sign Visits

You should sign a visit after:

  • Completing all required documentation including SOAP notes
  • Recording all relevant patient information and assessments
  • Reviewing the visit summary for accuracy
  • Ensuring all mandatory fields are completed
  • AI-generated documentation has been reviewed
  • Visit documentation sections are adequately completed
  • Progress notes contain necessary clinical information

Adding Your Electronic Signature

To electronically sign a visit:

  1. Navigate to the completed visit in your dashboard
  2. Review all documentation for completeness and accuracy
  3. Locate the signature canvas in the Status section below the visit information
  4. Draw your signature directly on the signature canvas using your mouse or touch input
  5. Click the “Save signature” button to complete the signing process

Your electronic signature will include:

  • Your drawn signature on the digital canvas
  • Automatic timestamp when signature is saved
  • Provider credentials linked to your login account
  • Secure authentication through your CureCompanion login session

Visit Status Changes After Signing

Once you sign a visit, the status changes automatically:

  • Visit status changes from “Signature pending” to “Signed and closed”
  • Visit card on dashboard displays a checkmark (✓) icon indicating completion
  • The Delete Visit button is removed from the visit interface
  • Messaging becomes disabled with “Messaging done for this visit” notification
  • The visit becomes part of the official medical record

Legal Requirements for Electronic Signatures

  1. Navigate to the signed visit from your dashboard
  2. Edit the progress notes or medical records as needed
  3. Save changes using the “Save” button in each section
  4. Use the “Redo” button to clear and redraw your signature if necessary

Best Practices for Visit Signing

  • Review all documentation thoroughly before signing
  • Sign visits promptly after completing documentation to maintain accurate records
